| Was sich ändert | Was ihr tun müsst |

Hello everyone,
The Shop team is moving its development from GitLab to GitHub. For partners and fork owners, one date matters:
From 19 October 2026, the repositories on GitLab receive no new updates.
The only exception is JTL-Shop Core: it still receives updates on master and new tags for every release.
Does this affect you?
| If you ... | What changes | What to do |
| download releases or use Composer with release versions | Nothing. Every release is still published on GitLab and on build.jtl-shop.de. | Nothing |
| have a fork of JTL-Shop Core | Your fork stays. Core on GitLab only receives updates on master (stable releases) and tags. Other branches are no longer maintained and will be deleted on 19 November 2026. | Check any sync jobs that expect updates of develop or other branches. Base your fork on master or the latest release tag. |
| have a fork of a plugin (for example jtl_paypal_commerce, jtl_google_shopping, jtl_returnless, jtl-gpsr, jtl_google_recaptcha) | You still get every new version of a plugin published on build.jtl-shop.de as before from our build server. Only the development itself moves to an internal GitHub repository. Example: development of jtl_paypal_commerce moves there, and you still download the finished versions from build.jtl-shop.de. The GitLab repository stays for now but receives no more updates from 19 October. We plan to archive it one month after the plugin's migration (read-only). We tell fork owners the date directly on GitLab. | Use build.jtl-shop.de for current versions of published plugins. Your fork stays at the state of 19 October. We also notify fork owners directly on GitLab. |
| follow develop or pre-releases (alpha, beta, rc) | develop and pre-releases are no longer published on GitLab. | Test against the release tags or the downloads on build.jtl-shop.de. Update any CI or scripts that pull develop. |
| use one of our public libraries directly (for example smarty4, minify, parsedown, phpquery, xtea, scc, functional), including forks of them | They move to public GitHub repositories (see table below). The GitLab copies get no more updates. These repositories are public and will become internal one month after their migration date (date per library: see table below). After that you keep getting the libraries as before through the Shop releases, because they ship as part of Core (Composer). | Switch your repository URLs to the new GitHub URLs. Plan the switch before then. If you use the Shop releases, you need to do nothing. Tell us in this thread if you depend on public access. |
| want to contribute code or report bugs | Nothing changes. Merge requests from external developers are still welcome, and you report bugs as before. You stay credited as the author. | Send merge requests on GitLab Core as before, target branch master. We port accepted changes to GitHub. |
| read the developer documentation | It still updates with each release. | Nothing |
JTL-Shop Core on GitLab
- It will not be archived and stays public.
- In the future it only receives tags and updates on master (stable releases).
- All branches except master are no longer maintained by us. We will delete them on 19 November 2026. If you rely on one of them, please tell us in this thread.
- Nothing changes for contributors. Merge requests from external developers are still welcome and must target master. Your authorship is preserved, you stay credited as the author.
- Bug reporting works as before.
Plugins and tools
- Every repository with forks is migrated to GitHub. Plugins are developed there in internal repositories. You still get new versions of the plugins published there from build.jtl-shop.de. Of the tools, only those the Shop uses as a Composer dependency are public. These repositories also become internal one month after their migration date (see table below). After that you get them through the Shop releases, as part of Core.
- We notify fork owners directly on GitLab (a mention in the repository).
- The GitLab repository remains, but receives no more updates from 19 October.
- Planned: archiving on GitLab one month after the migration of that repository. Archived repositories stay readable, nothing is deleted.
