Hey everyone,

Has anyone here had experience with a Shopify webshop that supports multiple languages?
Up until now, we've always entered our product descriptions in JTL (Texts -> JTL -> automatic synchronization with Shopify). Other content, such as our blog posts, we've managed directly through Shopify's CSM. The website is in German.

To prepare for our internationalization, I'm currently looking for a solution for English translation. There's the app Translation Lab - AI, for example . However, I don't know if the app works with the synchronization between JTL and Shopify. For instance, if I start a synchronization in JTL, will the content I've edited using Translation Lab - AI be overwritten?

I look forward to your reply and thank you for your help!

Hey Ha,
Yes, that's a common challenge when combining JTL with Shopify and adding multilingual support. In many cases, when you sync again from JTL, it can overwrite content that was edited directly in Shopify or via translation apps like Translation Lab so you'll want to be careful with that workflow.
One approach is to manage translations outside of Shopify first and then push structured content consistently, rather than mixing edits across systems. That's where working with a business translation services can help, especially if you want accurate and scalable translations for international markets instead of relying purely on AI tools.
Might be worth testing on a few products first before rolling it out fully.
Good luck with the international expansion
